We are so excited to share this project with the world. This bike has become so much more than a motorcycle. To see this 2021 BMW R18 go from an idea to a sketch, to a completed design has been amazing. Every part for this bike was discussed, designed, re-designed, 3D printed, test fitted, and updated once more. This project has been dubbed California Special R18 or CSR18 for short. This project has pushed the entire team at San Jose BMW Motorcycles LAB to the next level. We have been building custom BMW race bikes and production performance parts since the early 70’s. Continuously evolving our skills and techniques to match the latest in the available technology. CSR18 marks a milestone for the San Jose BMW team. We used the latest in 3D scanning technology to make a digital copy of the bike through a process call reverse engineering. Once we had the bike captured digitally, we could now design custom parts and modify the bike to 0.002mm. The possibilities and opportunities have become endless. Enjoy
The concept of CSR18 was to take a stock BMW R18 and make the bike visually lighter with a mix of vintage and contemporary while also paying tribute to the golden state.
The Color scheme is a mix of matt and gloss black, with highlights of brass & white. The bike will be given a more aggressive design while still maintaining proper design proportions with increased functionality.

Custom airbox with zero flow intake filters.
Custom intake air lines
Front cover with integrated oil cooler.
CNC machined valve covers with brass accents. Integrated highway pegs in valve covers.
Seat:
Bobber style seat with under seat compartment for relocated motorcycle control units.
Seat upholstery made from original horse leather BMW Motorrad Boxer Rider Jacket.
Some of control units will be relocated at the top of the engine instead removed airbox.
Gas tank: Custom cap and frame cover brass casted.
Todd’s Cycle clamp black mirrors
CNC machined custom pegs, hill and tow gear levers, brake lever.
Brass casted reverse switch.
Grips upholstery from horse leather original BMW Motorrad Boxer Rider Jacket.
